Our beehive wax is a high-adhesion blend of paraffin and microcrystalline wax. It will appear white and translucent when applied to wood.
- Melting point (D-938): The typical melting point is 140°F.
- Needle penetration (D-1321): The needle penetration of beehive wax at 0.1mm at 77°F (25°C) is 15-30 and 60-100 at 100°F (38°C).
Adding a wax coating to a wooden beehive can greatly increase your equipment’s longevity. While these wax coatings can protect the wood from the elements, they also help prevent wood rot caused by moisture and fungi. Beekeepers can also re-dip their beehives as often as needed for reuse.
